melegrano

the other day pomegranates were on sale for .99 cents at terrels. i love pomegranates. they are the most beautiful of all fruits. they are like a next of glorious gems hidden under that gorgeous red skin. i love the way they taste and feel in your mouth. i love to just look at them for hours. in italy i became obsessed with them and would buy them at the market each day to draw in class. i did lots of drawings, and then an extensive etching of them. i miss making drawings. i am going to start doing that. and painting. its been too long. sigh.

Zina, I love pomegranates too. Because my birthday is in October and that is when they come on in California I used to get a shoe box full for my birthday every year. I love them. I would put on an old shirt of my dad's and just sit on the curb outside and pick away at them. It made for a wonderful afternoon activity after school. Even now my husband will buy me one for my birthday to keep up the tradition.

I was so excited to see this, because I had just finished cracking open a pmegranet and sketching it. and like your friend Sandy my mom would buy me one each december, put one of my dad's t-shirts on and plop me down to eat it. Probably because it would take me so long and she wanted me out of the way! Love you.

I completely agree, until I had a weird stocker boy give it to me in a basket full of "Gifts of the Season" which represented the blood droplets of Christ... yah a brand new perspective of creeps now accompany that delectable fruit!

PS - what was the name of the health book that you and Louisa were telling me about (I believe she had given you a copy of it. We had been talking about Nathan and oils.)
Thanks,
Jenny
